Michael Gove Says Families Use Foodbanks Because Of Their Own Bad Decisions

It seems Michael Gove was in a particularly callous mood yesterday when asked by Luciana Berger about a recent Family Action report which showed one in four families has to borrow to afford school uniforms and about the increasing number of families using food banks for uniforms.

He dismissed the charity’s examples as unrepresentative and went on to offer up his own anecdotal evidence that people using food banks are often doing so because of their own decisions not to budget correctly.

He then added that what these people need is help budgeting, not money. He seemed to be acting like a particularly cruel prefect because the Prime Minister had entered the chamber.

Let’s all watch him falling over again.
